How I managed to get my life back

My Menopause Journey

So you get to an age where you start feeling somehow different, not sure as to why and then you begin to wonder, could it be the menopause?

Once confirmed my initial feelings were mixed, sad, emotional and anxious. At first when it crossed my mind I immediately switched into denial “No, it can’t be.. Not yet!” and I brushed it aside.

I was confronted with a huge reality check when one week I suddenly started breaking out in hot sweats at work at the most embarrassing moments – In the middle of sales presentations. I knew I had to do something about it. The denial-phase was officially over!

"I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY UP UNTIL NOW"

A New Struggle: Anxiety

Having a background as a professional dancer I was always very confident. Yes, I had the occasional moment of butterflies in my stomach before trying something new or getting on stage but nothing more severe than that.

The menopause changed that. I was panicking about work, about my relationship and it felt like everything was a constant worry!

And then: Osteoporosis Diagnosis

It felt like a never-ending story when on top of the awful menopause symptoms I was diagnosed with Advanced Osteoarthritis at the age of 50. The long waiting lists for hip replacements on the NHS lead me to a friend who is a functional medicine doctor and recommended that I try CBD to help with the inflammation, aches & pains.

It was incredible how it helped with the pain – no more stiff joints and the sleepless nights from reeling in pain came to an end.

There was however a very interesting and unexpected “side-effect” I noticed. My hot sweats disappeared.

At the time I happened to also be receiving B12 injections and research showed me that a good quality CBD oil mixed with MCT oil (from coconut oil) together had an amazing effect on my overall well-being, allowing me to gradually as the weeks passed feel like my old self again! Energetic, in a good mood, no hot sweats. I felt great! The B vitamins and herbal oils combined I was taking turned out to be the answer!

The Science Behind the Combination

CBD oil targets different receptors in the body that control hormones, mood, sleep and the central nervous system. Vitamin B6 also regulates hormonal activity in the body and B12 allows us to feel more energised.

The truth is as we age it becomes harder to absorb B vitamin so supplementing with B vitamins is highly recommended.

I combined CBD with MCT oil (coconut oil). Interestingly, research shows that some of the health benefits of MCT oil may include the potential for weight loss, decreased appetite, increased energy, and reduced inflammation.

MCT oil actually helps us absorb more CBD which is why some supplements perform better than others.

The Discovery of Feminapause

I wanted to share my experience and journey with other women. Feminapause contains all 4 ingredients in one: CBD, MCT, B12 & B6 in an easy to take one a day supplement. Feminapause now has over 1,000 reviews and has been featured on ITV’s Dr Chris Steele (page 2).

There are a lot of supplements out there that make all sorts of claims but the reality is that a lot of them are questionable and women find themselves trying one supplement after another, failing to find the right one for them. My goal is now to bring an end to this and shorten the journey to better well-being for women.
